Financial Aid FAQs
You’d be surprised at how many students receive assistance. In 2003-04, 63 percent of all undergraduates received some kind of financial aid. Twenty-eight percent of those who received grants got them from the federal government, 18 percent earned institutional grants, 15 percent got state grants and 15 percent received grants from sources such as private foundations or organizations, employers and parents’ employers (NPSAS).
Did you know that every college student must apply for federal financial aid – every academic year – whether they take it or not? You begin with Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), which assists students with loans, grants, scholarships and work study opportunities. You file an application each year, available electronically and at no charge. The results are forwarded to your school’s financial aid office.
