Volunteering Programs
How can you increase your awareness of the impact of factors that put people at a disadvantage? If you’re staying home and want to devote some time to community causes, check local agencies, camps, public health organizations, and cultural centers for volunteer opportunities. You can do a web search or scan your local newspaper for calls for volunteers. Or broaden your horizons. Here are some programs that operate nationally and internationally.
And for more about volunteering, see CLD's Community Service & Volunteering.

Employment Opportunities
In addition to checking out local job or campus employment opportunities, consider these other options.
  • AmeriCorps – Opportunities to “put your ideals into action,” learn new skills, make lasting connections, and earn money while in college
  • CDC – Student jobs with the Centers for Disease Control
  • EPA – Search for summer jobs and internships with the Environmental Protection Agency
  • Student Jobs.gov – Explore a database for federal government jobs
  • USA Jobs – Student educational employment, from the official job site of the United States Federal Government
