Before You Go
Visit the Career Services office – Check out these folks – they can offer lots of advice and steer you towards resources for interviewing preparation, including résumé and cover letter writing and availability of workshops and mock interviews.
Talk to other people who’ve done it – While reading literature and online articles can reveal a lot about interviewing skills, they can’t replace first-hand feedback from people who have given job interviews. Seek advice from students, friends, and family members to find out how they felt about their experiences. Ask about tips for successful interviews and what not to do.
Talk to acquaintances in supervisory positions – Do you have relatives or friends who have hiring power? Learn what the other side expects from job candidates and ask them about the best and the worst. Gather a list of typical interview questions.
