Applied Learning
Applied, or “hands-on” learning, is all about doing instead of showing. As Lao Tzu’s familiar saying suggests, “Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach a man to fish and you feed him for life.” Examples of applied learning in higher ed range from field or lab work to creating websites for a non-profit agency. Internships are types of applied learning.
