Getting Started on the Volunteer Track
Not sure how to get started? Contact your campus community service coordinator or student activities office to find out clubs, fraternities, and sororities that emphasize service. Learn about campus-based activities, such as a Red Cross blood drive.
Beyond the campus walls, you’ll find many opportunities to make a lasting contribution. Ask about the college’s local partnerships in the surrounding community, such as:
- Residential care centers, nursing homes, and assisted living communities for seniors
- Homeless animal shelters
- Cultural institutions, such as libraries, museums, and performing arts centers
- Youth centers, day camps, and Big Brother or Big Sister groups
- Literacy volunteer organizations
- Schools and tutoring programs
- Food banks and soup kitchens
- Community beautification programs
