Living at Home

Living at Home

This might be the most economical option, whether you’re living with your parents or your own kids. But now that you’re in college, the distractions of home can take their toll. You’ll also find yourself struggling to assert more independence.

Discuss with your family your need for more privacy, structured study schedules, and a specific place where you can study in peace. Designate a workspace and ask others to respect your materials. If you must share a computer or workstation, seriously consider setting a schedule. And invest in a USB jump drive (or flash drive or thumb drive). Store your school-related work and bookmarks on it so you don’t risk losing your data. You don’t want your little sister or two-year-old son erasing hours of work on a term paper.
