After the Rush is Over
So now the school year is over. Once summer break comes, how can you continue your interest in getting involved?
Before you leave, talk to your school’s community service coordinator about off-calendar projects, such as Habitat for Humanity. Check out local community centers, youth groups, or religious groups about volunteering opportunities. In addition, see this list of organizations that welcome and train volunteers.
And when you return, find out about courses that offer a service-learning component. You’ll not only have a chance to practice hands-on learning, you’ll gain academic credit. Consider enrolling in an ethics or positive psychology class.
