
Orientation Sessions, Workshops, and Activities
To gain an edge on academic success from the very first week of college, attend as many sessions as you can. Sometimes that’s easier said than done, because concurrent sessions – those occurring at the same time – require you to choose which ones are most beneficial for you. First look at which sessions are mandatory and which ones are optional. Required sessions at your freshman orientation are usually targeted towards students who are matriculated full-time and
- in need of assessment or placement testing
- in need of disabilities support services
- international, ESL, or exchange scholars
- athletes
- residence hall occupants
- EOP (Educational Opportunity Program) participants
- meeting with academic advisors for course registration
- participating in Work Study programs
Optional orientation sessions, activities, and workshops may deal with
