Recreation Sports

Okay, so just because you’re not the competitive type doesn’t necessarily mean that you’re not athletic. You can still take the opportunity to improve your strength, coordination, and endurance, while relieving stress and – oh yes – having fun! What kinds of recreational sports can you do at school? Options include indoor and outdoor activities – some of which are competitive – such as:

  • Aerobics & stretch classes – Or other sessions that strengthen your heart and slim your waist
  • Aquatics – Take swimming and diving lessons; train to be a lifeguard
  • Cycling – Long distance, endurance, and emissions-free
  • Dance – Indulge in Latin, ballroom, break-dancing – whatever – and shake those bones
  • Fencing – Develop grace, dexterity, and look great in white – en garde!
  • Martial Arts – Train in ancient techniques for self-discipline and self-defense
  • Outdoor adventures – Hiking, kayaking and sailing, rock climbing
  • Racquetball and handball – Work up a sweat and work off stress
  • Rock and wall-climbing – Test your agility, balance, and courage
  • Skateboarding – Indulge your passion for speed and balance
  • Skiing and snowboarding – Tackle the snowy slopes and improve your skills
  • Table tennis – Improve coordination, agility, and speed
  • Weight-training & Body Building – Build strength and endurance, and get buff
  • Yoga and Tai chi – Practice meditative movement and breathing techniques
