
Types of Student Organizations
Depending on the size of the student body and the diversity of interests, the roster of student organizations established at schools range from a couple of dozen to hundreds. Some clubs are chapters of national organizations. Visit your SA office or check online for listings.
To give you an idea of what students are doing, here’s a small but diverse sampling of the categories and names of groups – taken from actual colleges and universities:
- Creative Arts – Drama Club, In Praise We Sing Gospel Chorus, Clay Club, Art Alliance, Composers’ Collective
- Politics and Activism – Young Republicans, College Democrats, Amnesty International, NAACP, Environmental Collective
- Professional & Academic Interests – Culinary Arts Association, Graphic Design Group, Future Educators Association, Society of Women Engineers. French Club
- Special Interests – Japanese Anime Club, Gay-Straight Alliance, International Students Association, Feminist Leadership Alliance, Poetry Club, Finance Club
- Spiritual and Religious – Campus Crusade for Christ, Buddhist Club, Jewish Students Alliance, Pagan Circle, Interfaith Council
- Sports, Fitness and Recreation – Women’s Rugby Club, Outdoor Adventures, Yoga, Ski and Snowboarding, Latin Dance, Aikido Club
